Engagement Session in the Woods (John + Kristin)

Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, PA

I met up with John and Kristin on a hot Friday evening in the spring for their engagement session.  They were working overtime on wedding stuff (planning a party for ALL your favorite people is no joke, as you know) and showed up looking classy and cool (I couldn't wait to get these two in front of old stone walls when I saw these outfits!) ...but told me how beat they were.  We took a few minutes to chat and chill and I dare say they did just fine. (See below.)

I mention this because I know it's quite a bit of work to get out of the house for a photo session and it is so common to feel frazzled and stressed when we begin!  I have more thoughts on this, but for now, just know that folks who show up feeling crazy still love their final images.

John and Kristin, I loved getting to know you and see just how much you care for one another.  Lovely in my camera and lovely in real life.  xo.

Katie + Erich Engagement Session

Manayunk, PA

I met Katie at a baby shower last fall.  They randomly became roommates while both attending PCOM and then started dating after that.  How great is that?!

When I met her, she was finishing up med school and Erich was working in Hawaii.  We picked an afternoon during a rare week home for him and captured the two of them during engagement.  After spending a few hours with these two and their sweetness I was cheering for the day when they live in the same state (and house!) again.

They opted to meet up on PCOM's campus and then head to Main St in Manayunk - places with lots of memories and represented their time dating.  Beautiful locale + sentiment = one happy photographer.  Scroll on for some highlights!

Congratulations Katie and Erich!  Wishing you the best!  xo

Local Love: Ben + Carol's E-Session

Valley Green, Philadelphia, PA

They spent a lot of time here while dating.  Her parents got engaged in front of the Inn and all of her family feels sentimental about the bridge.

If you are living (or have lived) in NW Philadelphia you are nodding your head and smiling because you, too, love this park.  Valley Green is a pretty amazing stretch of green within the city limits and the Inn serves as the anchor point.

These two were intentional about picking locations that were meaningful to them and I'm completely on board!  We quickly rearranged our calendars to squeeze in an e-session while leaves were still on the trees.

I started off with a manual lens for a little bit of a gritty look and I love the result.  Take a look, if you'd like:

Also, have I said how much I love my clients?  I work with the most wonderful people and these two were great from the very first interaction.  Their dynamic seeps right through the screen, don't you think?  :)

As we were talking wedding-day details, Carol said, "There are really only three essentials for the day: that we get married, that our pastor marries us, and our friends and family are present.  Everything else is negotiable."

Yep, she's amazing.

Ben and Carol, I'm psyched for you to be married and grateful to know you and work with you!  Congrats and can't wait for your wedding!  xo

I'm delivering two things today: images from a oooh-i-love-this engagement session and two mini albums from a newborn session (grandparent gifts.  FTW.).

I thought I'd share just two of these images that have me giddy.  Just because it's Friday.  I'm digging the fog we had that morning and the way these two sit in such a lovely backdrop.

Stay tuned for the rest!  Happy weekend!  xo
