Ordinary Miracle

"...I daydream after breakfast

While the spirit of eggs and toast

Knits together a length of bone

As fine as a wheatstalk.

Later, as I postpone weeding the garden

I will make two hands

That may tend a hundred gardens..."

Excerpt from "Ordinary Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver.

Thanks, Laura, for sharing your ordinary miracle with me this spring!  He is the sweetest.  xo.

Sun Streaked Maternity Session

Glenside, PA

We had just wrapped up Rachel's baby shower.  And you know, it's in a setting like a baby shower where I see that this whole idea of finding your "tribe" isn't a new concept.  My favorite thing about events like that is seeing women come together with often only one thing in common: determination to love on, celebrate with, and bless a mama-to-be.

Women who barely know Rachel but know everything about my mom come bearing fruit salad and a diaper genie; close friends and co-workers of Rachel show up at a strange house and sit on the floor chatting over way too much food.  It's a beautiful scene.

And then, as this mama's parents and grandparents show up to scoot her off to the next event of the day, we decide to sneak in a quick photo session.

I love that the excitement of the day is still in her eyes, that we made images this lovely in 10 minutes, that she, this gifted and beautiful woman married my brother, and that new life is so worth the celebration.

Can't wait to meet you little one!  xo.

Maternity Session in Valley Forge

Valley Forge National Park

Philadelphia, PA

About two years ago, I met and photographed this family when their second daughter was born.  This year we met up on a blustery day to celebrate the pending arrival of their third little girl.

I loved the open, bare landscape as a backdrop of the park, don't you?  And this beautiful mama is wearing her grandmother's scarf.  Love significant little details.

We had a few quiet minutes but kept tabs on Will and the girls by the sounds of happy squeals as he chased them around the bare trees.  :)

Here are a few more favorites from that February morning:

Can't wait to meet this baby girl, Ramseys!  xo

Expecting your own bambino?  Drop me a note to talk about photographing your babe while he or she is still tiny.

I'm excited to show you the rest of the images from this maternity session.  We were tossing around a few ideas for locations, then Lindsay happened to comment that she loved trees.  "I'm kind of obsessed."  This is a woman after my own heart.

That was all I needed to hear!  I was pumped to highlight this beautiful couple and some glorious trees.  We met up in a little corner of Fairmount Park and it was just about perfect.

These two are as cute as they are pretty, don't you think?

Congratulations A + L !  Can't wait to meet your little one!  xo
