puerto rico, baby!

We're back!  The blog was a bit quiet in December because JHP was on vacation.  It was fabulous.

P and I have been married for a little over five years now and we (he) started talking about a five year trip about...4.5 years ago.  As we approached five years a few things came up - we bought a house, fixed up said house, changed jobs, oh right and found out we were having a baby.  As a result, the travel plans changed a few times.  At least one of our friends doubted that we'd ever get anywhere, but it happened!

Our anniversary trip turned babymoon was wonderful - relaxing, warm, adventurous (at least, adventurous at 7 months pregnant) - but most of all, it was great time together.  We could have camped out back and if that was the result, I'd have been happy.  (Ok, happy but freezing.)

I didn't bring my camera, so here are a few favs from the iphone.

Jeff & Julia: 5 Years

Philadelphia, PA

Originally from Florida, these two find themselves in Philadelphia while Jeff earns a PA degree here.  We met up for an anniversary session in a park in Philadelphia.  Julia, an artist and admissions counselor, is the abstract to Jeff's concrete.  Love it.  (Possibly because P's engineering mind is about as different as my high-in-the clouds thinking as possible?)

I'd like to note that Jeff was not looking forward to being in front of the camera.  (Men who feel the same way, take heart!)  Clearly he's a natural.  Julia: simply stunning.  Thanks for allowing me to celebrate with you for an afternoon!

Race Street Pier + Old City Engagement Session

Engagement, Portraitsjacqueline horningComment

Old City | Philadelphia, PA

Somehow I've lived in Philadelphia for two years without hearing about the Race St. Pier.  I discovered the idyllic urban park when Stephanie came up with the idea of incorporating Ben Franklin Bridge into their engagement photos as an iconic Philadelphia landmark (I love my creative clients).  I've heard it was designed by the same group who led the design project of the High Line in New York City.  We loved that park and I liked this pier immediately.

Stephanie and Jeremy, I had a great time with you!  I'm so glad you wanted images in the city where you met.

They brought jerseys from their favorite teams (below).  Love the rivalry...although Stephanie somehow managed to say "I'll take you" and "I'm totally adorable" at the same time.

This last image was actually the last image of the day.  Yes, they were that fabulous the whole time.  Congratulations again you two!

Anniversary Session in the Woods

Valley Green | Fairmount Park, Philadelphia PA

Todd and Dezi got married in Texas and immediately packed up their things to come east.  And I'm glad they did.  I was happy to celebrate their one year anniversary with them by preserving a few images one glorious fall day just before sunset.

We went just down the road from their house ("the cottage", as they say.  They're cute.) to Valley Green.  dusk + autumn colors + bridges + t&d makes one nice combination, don't you think?

Happy Anniversary, Todd and Dezi!
