Local Love: Ben + Carol's E-Session

Engagement, Portraitsjacqueline horningComment

Valley Green, Philadelphia, PA

They spent a lot of time here while dating.  Her parents got engaged in front of the Inn and all of her family feels sentimental about the bridge.

If you are living (or have lived) in NW Philadelphia you are nodding your head and smiling because you, too, love this park.  Valley Green is a pretty amazing stretch of green within the city limits and the Inn serves as the anchor point.

These two were intentional about picking locations that were meaningful to them and I'm completely on board!  We quickly rearranged our calendars to squeeze in an e-session while leaves were still on the trees.

I started off with a manual lens for a little bit of a gritty look and I love the result.  Take a look, if you'd like:

Also, have I said how much I love my clients?  I work with the most wonderful people and these two were great from the very first interaction.  Their dynamic seeps right through the screen, don't you think?  :)

As we were talking wedding-day details, Carol said, "There are really only three essentials for the day: that we get married, that our pastor marries us, and our friends and family are present.  Everything else is negotiable."

Yep, she's amazing.

Ben and Carol, I'm psyched for you to be married and grateful to know you and work with you!  Congrats and can't wait for your wedding!  xo

Baby Maise

Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, PA

"I'm so glad we got them done when she was little, " Kristen said.  They had just seen the images from their little girl's newborn session and their baby was now four weeks old.

Yes, Maise was still only four weeks old.  I found myself nodding in agreement since all newborns change in the 2-3 weeks between photographing them and delivering images.  A split second later I realized how funny the statement sounded.  She's still so tiny...but it's so true!

These sessions are extra special because things change so fast.  I love photographing a family while they are still in that happy survival stage.  Everything is hard and awesome and for a few weeks, time doesn't really matter and the outside world is largely forgotten.

But, you're here for the pictures, right?  :)  It was a privilege to meet this lovely, talented (He's in law; she's in medicine), honest (They talked as though I wasn't there.  I loved it.) pair.  Little Maise is going to be one heck a of a girl.

Actually, she is already!  Enjoy this adorable little face!

Congratulations K+P!  So happy to meet you and your sweet little bundle!

Oh Adeline

Oreland, PA

This family.  They laugh easily together, drag an ottoman into the nursery during feedings so they can hang out together while their little one snacks, and see their differences as strengths.  "He's numbers and I'm words", Christine says.  Love it.

But what you really came to see: how adorable is that little face? Before I tell you more about how wonderful they all are, just look at a few of these images.

This little angel baby was hanging (literally!) with her dad for the images above . . . then, just drifted off to sleep.  Just like that!  Later, she was laughing with her beautiful mama on the bed one minute . . . and drifted off to sleep the next.  She is already taking after her easygoing parents.

The inspiration for her name comes from Stephen Kellogg's song, "Oh Adeline".  "I'm gonna need a second heart for all this love", the song plays, and well, that's just about perfect isn't it?

Dan and Christine joked and chatted in down times said they frequently pulled a stool into Adeline's nursery so they could hang out together while one of them was feeding their baby girl.  Sweet, right?

D + C, thanks for sharing your little gem with me!  It was a delight to be with your family.  Have more babies and call me! :)

xo

Wide Open Spaces

I'm delivering two things today: images from a oooh-i-love-this engagement session and two mini albums from a newborn session (grandparent gifts.  FTW.).

I thought I'd share just two of these images that have me giddy.  Just because it's Friday.  I'm digging the fog we had that morning and the way these two sit in such a lovely backdrop.

Stay tuned for the rest!  Happy weekend!  xo
