Restored Mount Holly Library: Engagement Session

Engagement, Portraitsjacqueline horningComment

Mount Holly, NJ

Location, location, location.  It's true in Real Estate and also one of my favorite things about photography.  Meghan and Dan are the focus of these images, but their engagement session is set in a library where they met makes it personal and adds so much to their story.  It also happens to be beautiful!

M+D met while working at the Mount Holly Library and Lyceum.  It is a restored 17th century mansion and has beautiful details and cool features, like a catwalk!  (Is that the right word for it?)  I love that they wanted images from a place that looks lovely AND has so much meaning for them.

Congratulations Meghan and Dan.  I'm looking forward to the wedding! xo

What I'm Giving this Valentine's Day

personal, Weddings, newborn, Engagement, Portraitsjacqueline horning1 Comment

A friend was recently talking about a chapter in a book called The Meaning of Marriage that inspired my not-so-original idea for a Valentine's Day gift.  Perhaps an odd place for inspiration, but I'm hoping it will be well received.  The idea?  Words.

The book briefly describes catching a vision of our spouse in perfected form - the fullest, truest version of themselves.  Cool concept, isn't it?  (The book's explanation is much better.)  All that to say: I've been thinking about this and wanted to encourage my man this Valentine's Day with what I see in him.

Things like, for example, the way he strives for excellence in everything he creates.  Or the way he calmly and fearlessly solves problems.  And that I'm thankful that he is lighthearted and playful (No wonder he gets the best giggles from our little girl!).

What better gift than to tell the one(s) we love how lovely they are to us?  Happy Valentine's Day to you and the ones you love!  Who are...

...becoming kinder and stronger as the years go on.

...amazing, even though they are only a few days old.

...determined, strong, sleep-deprived, and radiant.

...your favorite partner in the midst of life's (awesome) craziness.

...more beautiful now than ever.

...incredible, just because they are here and yours.

Have a wonderful weekend with the ones you love!

Race Street Pier + Old City Engagement Session

Engagement, Portraitsjacqueline horningComment

Old City | Philadelphia, PA

Somehow I've lived in Philadelphia for two years without hearing about the Race St. Pier.  I discovered the idyllic urban park when Stephanie came up with the idea of incorporating Ben Franklin Bridge into their engagement photos as an iconic Philadelphia landmark (I love my creative clients).  I've heard it was designed by the same group who led the design project of the High Line in New York City.  We loved that park and I liked this pier immediately.

Stephanie and Jeremy, I had a great time with you!  I'm so glad you wanted images in the city where you met.

They brought jerseys from their favorite teams (below).  Love the rivalry...although Stephanie somehow managed to say "I'll take you" and "I'm totally adorable" at the same time.

This last image was actually the last image of the day.  Yes, they were that fabulous the whole time.  Congratulations again you two!

And the Award Goes to...

...Brandon and Melissa.  Hands down.  If I were giving out awards, these two get the prize for being troopers.  We met up for their engagement photos on what felt like the hottest day of the year.  It was one of those times when the AC in my car gave up five minutes in and never regained temperature control.

On the positive side, the setting was lovely and the heat couldn't stop the lovin'!  ;)  I loved getting to know these two - they were so easy to have fun with.  Thanks Brandon and Melissa!  I'm already looking forward to the wedding :)
