Sun Streaked Maternity Session

We had just wrapped up Rachel's baby shower.  And you know, it's in a setting like a baby shower where I see that this whole idea of finding your "tribe" isn't a new concept.  My favorite thing about events like that is seeing women come together with often only one thing in common: determination to love on, celebrate with, and bless a mama-to-be.

Women who barely know Rachel but know everything about my mom come bearing fruit salad and a diaper genie; close friends and co-workers of Rachel show up at a strange house and sit on the floor chatting over way too much food.  It's a beautiful scene.

And then, as this mama's parents and grandparents show up to scoot her off to the next event of the day, we decide to sneak in a quick photo session.

I love that the excitement of the day is still in her eyes, that we made images this lovely in 10 minutes, that she, this gifted and beautiful woman married my brother, and that new life is so worth the celebration.

Can't wait to meet you little one!  xo.

When this little beauty was born, Pete and I changed up our date night, took our baby to hang out with them in the hospital and had a blast.  Yep, they are that great.  (And then went for late-night burgers at Bareburger - so good!  Amazing burgers and fun decor.)

Sage, welcome to the world sweet girl.  I'm so very glad to capture all of your squishy newborn perfection.

Congrats M + A, and lots of love to your beautiful family.

I last saw this sweet family was to photograph their first babe a few weeks after my daughter was born in 2014.  This time, I took a break from maternity leave and packed my camera bag when my #2 was a month old to photograph a newborn session for their #2.

Apparently we are connected when it comes to delivering babies.  ;)

"We kind of enjoy time together" she said as the pair made their rounds in the post-bedtime routine and poured a glass of wine.  It was obvious, and I so respect couples who work to prioritize one another.

They relished in the quiet house, then immediately oohed and aahhed over pictures of their kids like every other parent you know.  Read on for the oohs and aahs.  :)

D + S, you guys are example #143 of why I have the best clients.  Have another baby so I can see you again!  xoxo

A Not-Quite-Newborn Session

You might recognize these fine faces from previous maternity or newborn sessions (and one session that will hit the blog soon!).  I've known these two for over 10 years now and love watching and learning from them as parents.  Also, have you seen more adorable children?  :)

Read on for highlights from their cozy in-home session this February.

I love sessions like this that include daily occurrences like playtime and nursing right along with portraits, and that the backdrop for everything is their home.  So warm and personal.  Thanks for having me, A+M!
